Trump's threats of war and sanctions are merely a deception of American citizens about the current situation in their country and a deafness to the calls of intellectuals that the future of the United States is in cooperation, rather than wars and sanctions.
The election campaign of the new US President, Donald Trump, was full of promises regarding decisions with which he promised to improve the economy of the country. Deportations of illegal migrants, most of them from Mexico, high customs duties on products imported from Canada, Mexico, China and the EU, a threat to occupy Greenland and the Panama Canal if they are not obtained with a purchase agreement and a number of other shocking promises... Following the inauguration, it was time to sign all those promises into the form of executive decisions, some of which, according to the American system, do not require confirmation from the Congress.
One of the first decisions which Trump immediately signed and came into force is the deportation of illegal migrants, mostly to Mexico, and the abolition of the right to obtain US citizenship for people born in the US to parents who are not US citizens.
This right is already challenged before the Supreme Court of the United States, as that right is guaranteed by the Constitution. Trump signed a pardon for 1,500 people convicted of participating in the attack on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, which is a kind of justification of the violence carried out by his followers. In addition, he signed the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization and from the Paris Agreement aimed at reducing pollution on a global scale.
The consequences of the US withdrawal from the WHO are twofold. WHO will be left without the money that the US was paying as membership and which Trump cited as the main reason for the withdrawal, comparing that the US gave 1.3 billion dollars in one year, while China gave only 33 million. Due to the lack of funding, vaccination programs in endangered countries, the fight against tuberculosis and diabetes will suffer, and the remaining member countries will not have access to medical research programs in the US.
On the other hand, the damage that US citizens will suffer due to this move will be reflected in the increased number of flu cases, the absence of flu vaccines because of lack of cooperation, no access to the global database of diseases, infections, vaccines... In addition, the US will have no influence in the shaping of global health policies and will leave room for action for China and Russia.
The withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement is creating room for more investment in coal mining, industries using coal and for increased production of shale oil, which is a technology that is highly pollutes the groundwaters.
Threats to Russia and China
We saw what the US policy towards the European Union would be with the absence of the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and the French President Emmanuel Macron from the Trump's inauguration.

This clearly shows that Trump does not consider Britain, France and Germany as equal partners, even though they are all NATO members. Their absence was not because these leaders could not come, but because they were not invited.
On the other hand, right-wing politicians such as the Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Argentine President Javier Miglio and Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni were present. The Chinese president Xi Jinping was invited but the Vice President of China came instead. This absence means that China is not satisfied with Trump's statements and behavior towards the country and that it is not very "happy" about his election as president.
Trump's demands to buy Greenland and the Panama Canal were not only an expansion of the area of dominance, but also a demonstration of fear of Russia and China, which are increasing their presence in the Arctic – something that the United States see as a threat to its own security.
On the other hand, Trump accuses the Chinese of influencing Panama and endangering the neutrality of the channel, because Chinese investments in this country have increased. The Chinese have also not forgotten Trump's statements that he will increase tariffs on imports of Chinese goods to 60%.
Trump also blamed China for the fentanyl flood of the US drug market, which doubled the number of deaths caused by this opioid from 36,359 in 2020 to 73,838 in 2021. In truth, fentanyl found its way to users in the US through Mexico due to the presence of Chinese drug dealers in this country, who have been exchanging the fentanyl produced in China for pure cocaine from Mexico since 2010.
Some of the first decisions the US president signed was a freeze on foreign aid for a period of 90 days. This means no weapons or other types of aid for Ukraine.
This is a clear sign of Trump's intention to stop the war in Ukraine and evidence of his campaign claims that US military and financial aid to Ukraine is economically draining the country. However, the background to this decision is not only the alleged depletion of US military aid to Ukraine, but also a step towards leaving the reconstruction of Ukraine to the EU, something the EU does not have the means to do because the Union has reduced itself to an economic crisis by accepting the US-imposed policy of sanctions against Russia.
The cessation of oil and gas purchases from Russia has also economically exhausted the EU due to its infantile policy towards the United States and because of blindly following of American interests. The EU agreed to buy oil and gas from the USA which were 4 times more expensive than Russian energy. On the other hand, the USA realized that they failed to economically break Russia with sanctions, so they are slowly preparing for the same decision like the one that covered-up the defeat in the Iraq war: declare victory and withdraw. In this case: stop giving weapons and money and leave the costs of rebuilding Ukraine to the EU.
Economic wars are not needed
The professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, USA,Mr. Richard Wolf, explains that Trump's threats of tariffs on imported goods from China and sanctions against Russia are an ill-considered decision because the United States is deeply dependent on China, India, Brazil and other countries where the US production is exported.
China is following statements and decisions of American presidents and always has a strategy prepared to defend its interests. China immediately responded to the US decision to impose a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, with a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas imports and a 10% tariff on crude oil. In addition, professor Wolf explains that tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China will increase the inflation in the US.
In his opinion, there is no need for economic wars because the US empire is collapsing and the change must originate from the American citizens themselves. Third world countries no longer turn to the US and the western countries for investment and economic aid, but to China and BRICS. The US is no longer the world's leading economy, and the rest of the world can easily survive without its finances and products. Trump's threats of war and sanctions are merely a deception of American citizens about the current situation in their country and not listening to the calls of intellectuals that the future of the US lies in cooperation, not in wars and sanctions.
The BRICS countries make up 50% of the world's population, while the US is only 4%. The world can do without the US, the question is how much the US can do without the world.
