Irena Cvetkovic holds a PhD in gender studies. As a young researcher, she has worked on many research projects in the fields of sociology, gender studies, and the media. She was the author of the socially engaged blog Femgerila, and then a columnist for the daily newspaper Dnevnik. She is a human rights activist for marginalized communities, and is particularly active in advocating for the rights of LGBT people, drug users, and sex workers. She is active in several formal and informal activist associations. She is currently the Executive Director of the Coalition "Sexual and Health Rights of Marginalized Communities" - Skopje.
